About Tyre Pro

How long has Tyre Pro been operating in Artarmon?

Tyre Pro has been serving the Artarmon community since 2001. Over the years we’ve built a reputation as the go-to tyre and mechanical workshop on the North Shore. A lot of our customers have been coming to us for years and send their family and friends our way too.

Is Tyre Pro part of a franchise or chain?

Neither. We’re a locally owned and operated independent business. That means you’re dealing directly with people who genuinely care about the work — not staff following a script at a franchise operation.

Tyres & Puncture Repairs

How much does a puncture repair cost?

A passenger car puncture repair is $66 including GST, some run flat tyres and EV tyres might cost a little more to repair. That covers a full off-rim inspection, internal repair, refit and inflation check. Not every puncture can be safely repaired, and if yours is one we can’t fix, we’ll tell you straight before we do anything.

Can every puncture be repaired?

Unfortunately, not. Australian safety standards only allow repairs to punctures in the central tread area that are smaller than 6mm. Anything on the sidewall, near the shoulder, or caused by a larger object generally means the tyre needs replacing. We’ll always let you know what we’re looking at before recommending a course of action.

Do you offer free tyre pressure and tread depth checks?

Yes, we’re happy to check your tyre pressure and tread depth at no charge. During busier periods we might not be able to drop everything straight away, so if you can give us a quick call before you come in we’ll make sure someone is free to help you properly. It only takes a few minutes and it’s well worth doing regularly.

How do I know when my tyres need replacing?

The legal minimum in NSW is 1.5mm of tread depth across the full width of the tyre, though most manufacturers suggest changing at 3mm for safety reasons. If you’re not sure where yours are at, swing by and we’ll check them for free, no appointment needed.

What tyre brands do you stock?

We carry Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Toyo, Kumho and Hifly as standard, and we can source most other brands and sizes if you need something specific. Give us a call and we’ll check what we can get for you.

Mechanical Servicing & Repairs

Do you work on electric vehicles and hybrids?

Yes. We fit tyres and carry out general mechanical servicing on electric and hybrid vehicles. If you have a specific question about your EV or hybrid, give us a call and we’ll let you know exactly what we can help with.

Do you service all makes and models?

Yes, all of them. Our qualified technicians work on all passenger vehicles regardless of make or model, including logbook servicing for vehicles still under manufacturer’s warranty.

Will getting a logbook service here void my new car warranty?

No, and this is a common misconception worth clearing up. Under Australian Consumer Law you’re not required to use a dealership for logbook servicing during your warranty period. As long as the service is done by a qualified technician using the manufacturer’s specified parts and fluids — which is exactly what we do — your warranty stays fully intact.

What is your mechanical labour rate?

Our workshop labour rate is $154 per hour including GST. We provide a written quote if needed before starting any work so there are no surprises.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Yes. We stand behind the work we do. All mechanical repairs come with a 12 month warranty on parts and labour unless otherwise stated at the time of the repair. If something isn’t right after we’ve worked on your vehicle, bring it back and we’ll sort it out.

Can I get a quote before committing?

Absolutely. Call us on (02) 9436 3980 or book online and we’ll give you a clear, no-obligation quote before any work begins. We’d rather you knew exactly what you’re up for before you commit.

Pink Slips / e-Safety Checks

Do you do e-safety checks or pink slips?

Yes. Tyre Pro is an authorised inspection station and we carry out e-Safety checks (pink slips) for registration renewals

How long does a pink slip inspection take?

Usually around 30 minutes. It’s always worth calling ahead to lock in a time rather than waiting around.

Wheel Alignments

How do I know if my car needs a wheel alignment?

The most common signs are the car pulling to one side, uneven wear on your tyres, a steering wheel that sits off-centre when you’re driving straight, or vibration through the wheel. It’s also a good idea to get an alignment check after hitting a serious pothole, after any suspension work, or whenever you’re fitting new tyres.

How often should I get a wheel alignment done?

Once a year or every 15,000km is a reasonable guide. Outside of that, any time you notice the car behaving differently or your tyres wearing unevenly is worth a look.
